EVA Boat Flooring Installation Guide

Please read this article carefully when you want to install EVA boat flooring.

Three Attractive Features Of Boat Decking Sheet

Cleaning the Boat Deck - The Most Critical Step

Using a neutral detergent and a stiff-bristled brush, thoroughly scrub the deck to remove all dirt and grime. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water to ensure all detergent residue is removed. Finally, wipe the surface with a dry, lint-free cloth. The deck must be completely air-dried and free of any foreign matter before installation begins.

Flat Fitting

EVA foam is typically supplied in rolls. Before installation, unroll the material and allow it to rest and relax into its natural shape. If the material is curled, you may flatten it by laying it under a heavy object to make it easier to work with.(For DIY users, you can use a utility knife to cut into corresponding parts for fitting. If the parts are large, you can use cardboard instead, and then match the cardboard to the EVA sheet before cutting, which will be more accurate.)

Installation

a. Sectional Installation: Do not remove the entire 3M marine adhesive backing at once. It is recommended to peel off only 30-50 cm of the backing paper at a time.

b. Aligning the Edges: Start from one end. Precisely align the edge of the material with the deck's edge or your guideline.

c. Slow Application: Slowly lay the material forward, pressing it down with your hands as you go. Gradually remove the remaining adhesive backing. This process must be slow and steady to avoid trapping air bubbles and creating wrinkles.

d. Dealing with Bubbles: If small air bubbles appear, gently lift the material and re-lay it, smoothing it outward from the center to push the bubbles toward the edge.

Rolling

After installing each section, use a roller to apply firm pressure. Roll from the center outward to force out any remaining air and ensure a strong, secure bond across the entire surface.

Post-Installation Care

  • Allow the adhesive to cure for at least 24-72 hours before using the boat. Avoid dragging heavy objects or washing the floor during this time.
  • For daily cleaning, simply rinse with fresh water or use a soft brush with a mild soap solution. Avoid strong acids, alkaline, or corrosive cleaning agents, as these can damage the material.
